I'll overwhelm 'serious boxer' Jake Paul - Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua prepares to battle the American YouTuber in an eight-round match which will be broadcast live on Netflix.
Briton Joshua said he will "overwhelm entirely" Jake Paul and "break" the American as the two fighters came face-to-face to build hype for the upcoming heavyweight fight.
Former twice unified title holder Joshua battles YouTuber-turned-boxer Paul - in what is, by the numbers, a massive mismatch - at Miami venue on December 19th.
Fighter's Attitude
"I'm going to damage his features and break his body up. I'm here to prove I'm the better fighter," Joshua, 35, declared.
"I'll stamp all over him. That's a fighter's mentality.
"I'm going to really want to hurt him. That's what I want to do."
Respectful Interaction
In spite of these statements, a calm Joshua and internet personality Paul - normally known for his dramatics - exchanged pleasantries and kept it respectful with each other.
Paul instead attacked ex Joshua's rival Francis Ngannou and called him "ridiculous" after Ngannou declined a match opportunity.
Targeting Tyson Fury
Joshua, meanwhile, targeted UK opponent Tyson Fury - and refused a £1m bet 'Tyson Fury' claims he will make on a Paul victory.
"[Paul] outshines Tyson Fury - he's actually sitting here," the boxer commented.
"I respect him for that."
Serious Opponent
In spite of stating he plans to punish Paul, Anthony Joshua declined to talk badly about his opponent's boxing ability.
"Jake Paul is a legitimate boxer," he stated.
Paul's History
Paul - who first rose to fame on the Disney Channel - has mainly boxed mixed martial artists or past-their-prime fighters since entering professional boxing.
He was defeated by British fighter Tommy Fury in 2023.
Commercial Attraction
However, the novice is still one of boxing's biggest commercial attractions, frequently receiving substantial paydays.
Prediction and Confidence
The 28 year old forecast a knockout win in rounds four or five and stated he would prevent the much-anticipated Fury-Joshua bout, which is apparently being planned for two years from now.
"It will be my match with Fury next year," Paul stated.
Physical Difference
As both boxers met for the usual stare-down, with their height and weight contrast on show, it drove home just how surprising this complete situation is - and how remarkable it is that the fight is actually proceeding.
